On the failure of Triumph

In 1981 Pat Bedard, a popular US driver and journalist, wrote this article after the last Triumph sport car produced and talked about what "sport car" meant in its golden age (150s-1970s). His thoughts may explain the reason we're still fascinated by these cars.
The original included article was published in the September 1981 issue of "Car and Driver" which we thank for allowing us to translate it.

The 17th Annual Kastner Cup

The Kastner Cup is a race held each year at a different race track across the United States and Canada, specifically for Triumph and Triumph powered race prepared cars. The Kastner Cup winner does not get any money and no points towards a championship. The true prize is the Kastner Cup trophy being handed to the winner by R.W. “Kas” Kastner himself. This is a short report od the 17th edition which was held in the Spring of 2019.

In recent years, the most prevalent example has been using a late model T2000/2500 rack when converting a left-hand drive TR6. This article discusses the origins, repair, conversions and modifications for race use, and particularly shows why such conversions are usually done wrongly.
